Just about every podcast, blog and website is offering gift ideas for the holidays right now, so we thought we’d join the fun with our own list of cozy gift ideas from the Northwoods!
Mounds View Roasters coffee: Nothing says cozy like cradling a delicious cup of warm coffee in your hands while watching snowflakes drift from the sky.
Last year a friend gave Em a bag of coffee from this small coffee roaster in Wisconsin, and she was instantly hooked. She’s tried almost all of the blends but Campfire Companion is her favorite. It’s nutty and chocolatey and ohhh so smooth.
Rural Route Popcorn: The cold December nights in the Northwoods are perfect for curling up with a holiday movie (and yes, Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie!). One of our favorite movie snacks is Rural Route 1 Popcorn. We live close enough to visit their store, but they also ship their yummy popcorn.
If you’re looking for something decadent, try the S.S. Dunkle. It’s caramel corn coated with dark fudge and sprinkled with sea salt.
Jill’s favorite is the Cheesy Ranch, Em’s husband loves the Classic Caramel, and Em prefers the zing of Warm & Spicy—popcorn popped with cajun seasoning in the oil!
You can learn about all the flavors and place an order here.
Wicked Plush Throw: Have you ever touched a pony’s velvety nose? That’s exactly what LLBean’s wicked plush throw feels like! It’s a warm blanket and a wonderful, calming sensory experience all in one.
These throws also work great as an extra cover on the bed on chilly nights. They are light and won’t weigh you down.
Sillycow Farms Hot Chocolate: Annnd we’re back to hot drinks again! If you haven’t already discovered this hot chocolate at your grocery store or Whole Foods location, it’s worth searching out. Just combine it with a fun mug and a bag of marshmallows and you’ve got a cozy fun gift for your favorite chocolate lover.
Sillycow Farms is a Vermont-based company that makes its hot chocolate with all-natural ingredients. There are 10 flavors to choose from including Chocolate Sea Salt and Caramel, Chocolate Peppermint Twist and Chocolate Moo-use. If you can’t find this hot chocolate in your grocery store you can order it online.
The Spice House: This family-owned business is our favorite place to buy fresh herbs, spices and amazing blends. They have something for everyone on your gift list—from people who love to cook or bake to those who just want to improve their morning coffee, restaurant takeout food, salads or even popcorn.
The Spice House also has an excellent selection of tasty salt-free blends for those who need to watch their salt intake.
Em has been ordering from this northern-Illinois-based business for more than a decade. One of her favorite blends is their special Central Street Old World Seasoning which she uses in all her chicken recipes. And she makes delicious mochas at home by adding their hot cocoa and vanilla bean sugar to her coffee.
A few years ago The Spice House added resealable flatpaks which is a nice economical option because they always ship for free.
If you’re not sure what to choose, they sell all kinds of gift boxes, and if you’re really not sure, you can always buy a gift card.
And that’s our cozy gift list from the Northwoods! None of these are affiliate links, we just love these products and companies!
